This Competition is NOW CLOSED –
CONGRATULATIONS RACHAEL!
It has been 6 days since I last posted. 6 days of snot and sneezing and stressing out – but never mind all of that! What saved me over the past 6 days was a wonderful DVD I was sent to review. Thank goodness for that!
I waited till Boofs nap time and told Gerty she was allowed to watch a movie for her quiet time (because Mummy really really needed some rest). I have to admit I was a little apprehensive. It had been a long long time since I had watched Alice in Wonderland and Gerty was used to the shorter movies that are now the trend for her age group. I also recalled our foray into the classics with a little dismay – I mean seriously, some of the classics are so dark and terrifying!!! Step mothers ordering children to be killed in the woods springs to mind. Poisonous apples! Is it any wonder we have an obesity epidemic? Anyway – I digress…
I popped the DVD into the player – I was actually sent a DVD and Blu Ray set (note to self – must buy a Blu Ray player!) and I popped in the digitally enhanced, 60th Anniversary Edition, Alice in Wonderland and held my breath! If Gerty didn’t like it that was the end of my quiet time…
I needent have been concerned. It was love at first site and Gerty has not stopped watching Alice since. I have lost count of the number of times we have watched Alice tumble down the rabbit hole (Gerty’s favourite part).
I seem to be singing, as I rush around, in a sing songy voice… “I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date, no time to say goodbye, hellooo, I’m late, I’m late, I’m late”
I do realise this is supposed to be a review but seriously, I don’t think there would be too many of my readers who have not seen Alice in Wonderland. And the beauty is that it really is quite light for a classic.. No loved ones dying, no children being treated as slaves, no apples laced with deadly poison and no murderous relatives either!!! What were they thinking??? Alice is light and fun, though there is a smoking caterpillar! but I can overlook that for a great classic and a lot of peace and quiet!
How long since you watched this Walt Disney Classic? I cannot believe it was released 60 years ago! I must admit, watching the digitally enhanced version, complete with crystal clear graphics and glorious sound, it is not difficult to see why it is Gerty’s new favourite, And I am quietly a bit chuffed to have her absorbed in such a classic! Check out the trailer here:
Would you like your very own copy? Yes? Ok, in that case feel free to enter for your chance to win a Special 60th Anniversary Edition DVD / Blu Ray set to the value of $49.95.
Just think – School holidays coming up… You NEED this!!!
It’s really easy. Just make sure you follow Milk n Cookies and leave a comment, easy as that. For additional entries feel free to Tweet or Share on Facebook and make sure you leave a separate comment to say you have done so.
The competition closes 7pm EST Friday 17th June 2011. Our good friend Randy (Random.org) will draw a winner on Friday evening and the winner will be announced and emailed.
